Day 1860: Sushi

We went to the conservatory for their spring show. It was cute but not a huge amount was blooming. I don’t know if we’ve been there around this time of year before. Lots of orchids though.

We had fries from the fancy fry place near there.

I finished and made a second emotional support chickie, a tiny version of the big chickens I made last year when my dad was in the hospital.

Matt did a little shop for ham for Easter and some odds and ends.

For dinner we got sushi.

Day 1855: Salad

A plant I’ve had for almost five years put out a big leaf today!

We ordered new phones and Matt picked them up this morning and then made us waffles.

I managed to make a few more buttons to get ahead on the independent ones. She sent us a schedule but I’d be surprised if we actually stick to it or get through them in class.

Matt ran to Costco and we had chicken tossed with arugula, tomatoes, onion and the feta and olives leftover from Friday’s app platter. We also finished off the leftover app dips.

Day 1848: Ribs

It was unexpectedly nice weather today! Matt went to Lidl and got some groceries and we tried one of their take and bake pizzas for lunch. It wasn’t bad but I think I like Aldi’s better.

Then he smoked some baby back ribs most of the afternoon. We had that, baked potatoes and a salad from Lidl that was “street corn” flavored.

Day 1842: Squid Dupbap

Another dreary day! At least in the morning we saw a Great Blue Heron super close. Mitzi barked at it but the bird was unfazed.

For lunch Matt had some rice and eggs and I got some fried chicken and cold sides from the good deli supermarket nearby.

For dinner I had the squid dupbap that we didn’t even touch yesterday because we had so much food. It reheated pretty well.

The weather and Matt not feeling 100% really threw off our meal plans. We weren’t planning on being here so much and the meal I did plan didn’t work anymore.

Day 1839: Meatloaf & Mash

Matt’s stomach was still a little funky so while I was at Costco getting crab meat I got a chicken. So he had a chicken sandwich for lunch and I had the shrimp salad from the meal prep place. It was pretty good with some extra Old Bay.

For dinner I had the meatloaf, mash and green beans from the meal prep (skimpy on the gravy this time!) and Matt had the salmon from the meal from last night over rice.

Lulu was super cute and sleepy with her duck.

Why don’t people get that Severance is a show about slavery?? The think pieces about work place politics are cringey. The amount of people who take the Lumon view of the innies is so gross.

I was going to work on my button class I had missed but I had a migraine hangover and didn’t feel up to it. I hate being behind!

Day 1832: Spaghetti

I went to Lidl for groceries and didn’t have a ton of luck. I did get an enough for a few dinners though.

Then I got home and realized that the fresh manicotti Matt got at Aldi we were going to have for dinner must have been expired when he bought it—it was hard to read but the expiration date was some time in February!

We got club sandwiches for lunch and then ended up getting fancier Italian take out for dinner but they gave me the wrong food. It wasn’t a great food day! They gave me spaghetti in meat sauce which I really don’t like.

Day 1828: Hots & Tots

I had my retina appointment this morning. He thinks that is what is happening and wants me to come back in three weeks to check it again but it might take a few months(!). The light flashing is annoying but a little less today.

I was so dilated I felt woozy. We stopped at the rich people grocery and got sandwiches and split them. They weren’t bad! One was ham and Boursin and the other was turkey, ham and blue cheese.

We were supposed to get chips with them but Matt couldn’t find them and I couldn’t see.

Then we had hots, tots, beans and coleslaw for dinner.

Long day!

Day 1827: Salmon

Waffles for “brunch” since we had leftover buttermilk and some eggs getting old.

Matt did a shop and got a lot of meat and seafood but not a ton of veggies. He also got a plant stand I’m looking forward to putting up! You go, Aldi.

For dinner Matt made salmon with sautéed mushrooms, green beans and baby potatoes.

Day 1800: Spaghetti and Meatballs

I had a guild meeting at 10 am. It ended up running long and I picked up some shrimp salad at a new place that’s supposed to be a gourmet out post of a tiny supermarket chain here. The main place is known for its bakery and deli so I expected some of that but everything looked kind of old. There were customers but the baked goods look dried out. There were Super Bowl desserts that weren’t marked down. It was weird. The other stuff was a little strange too like they had flavored Maldon salt but not plain. It’s scary to get in and out of since it’s on a major street with no place to turn around or median turning lane so I don’t think I will make going there a priority.

Then dinner was homemade spaghetti and meatballs.
