everyday eating during "unprecedented" times
For lunch I had the last bagel and the last of the cream cheese. I also heated up leftover pilaf and baby potatoes as a snack, there was not much of either left but too much to toss.
For dinner we chopped up leftover beef and had it on rolls and made coleslaw and fruit salad to go with.
I did a tiny shop this morning near the bagel shop so I got us bagels and salmon cream cheese for lunch.
For dinner we made baked chicken thighs and spinach-mushroom-wild rice pilaf. The trick is cooking the chicken on a bed of onions.
Matt made us matzo brei with leftover salmon for lunch. The first not-burnt matzo we’ve had in years!
He did some yard work and smoked a chuck roast at the same time. We had it with asparagus and baby potatoes.
We were going to go to Annapolis for the plant sale but it was freakishly cold and windy this morning so we went to this native plant nursery instead. It moved to a golf course since we last went and it was a big hike. A good walk spoiled, indeed. We got a lot of plants for both houses.
We needed something at the Italian market so we got that and some sandwiches for lunch.
Matt did a little grocery run and we had salmon, corn muffins and salad for dinner.
Fruit salad for dessert! It’s been a long time since we’ve had berries.
We had grilled cheese for lunch using up the last of the smoked cheddar from Easter.
For dinner we got take out: pinakbet and shrimp pancit bihon. It was really saucy, I had to put it on the rice to soak it up.
I started a new knitting project today.
For lunch I had a shrimp and corn quiche from the meal prep place.
For dinner we had salmon and grilled vegetables from the same place.
I drove over to the other house after the play. It was a long night but the appraiser was coming early and I thought it would be easier than having to head over during rush hour. It’s the last bit of estate type thing I need to do! It’s just for documentation and pricey but I like to check all the boxes.
I had some leftover Singapore noodles for lunch with some leftover chicken mixed in.
I had my button class. Only one more!
For dinner we had pot roast, mash and roasted carrots from the meal prep place.
I did some cleaning and organizing at home that took much longer than expected.
Lulu is still coughing a bit so we got some new longer acting meds for her and the vet wants to do some X-rays next week. I hope she’s okay! She’s been really perky and playful outside of the cough but the cough keeps waking her up at night and we are all tired.
We saw Some Like it Hot tonight at the theatre and it was right at dinner time when we’d have to leave so I ended up having my eggplant leftovers early and then some leftover Chinese food in the afternoon. Matt had lunch at work and then came home early to have a chicken sandwich.
The play was fun (I was a little skeptical!) and I could see where it needed some tweaks but it was cute. The over the head mask was really comfortable. I saw some other maskers too!
I went to Costco and got some odds and ends. It will be a busy couple days so I wanted to get a chicken for lunches. I ran into my neighbor which was funny because we don’t live near Costco. They had new(?) southwest wraps so we had that for lunch.
I saw a barge on the river which was fun and rare.
For dinner I was hoping to get something to heat up from Costco but they didn’t have anything that worked so we got Chinese food near home instead.
There was a lunch counter/diner near where I lived when I was little. I don’t think we ever went there because we didn’t really eat out but it was famous for their Coney Island dogs. Then years later it moved bizarrely near my parents new house on the river. We tried that for lunch. I was skeptical it would transport well but they wrapped the dogs up nicely and nothing was greasy at all.

For dinner we had another of the Goldbelly meals—gumbo. It was really good! The third meal is in the freezer for later but I’d totally order from them again.
