Day 1839: Meatloaf & Mash

Matt’s stomach was still a little funky so while I was at Costco getting crab meat I got a chicken. So he had a chicken sandwich for lunch and I had the shrimp salad from the meal prep place. It was pretty good with some extra Old Bay.

For dinner I had the meatloaf, mash and green beans from the meal prep (skimpy on the gravy this time!) and Matt had the salmon from the meal from last night over rice.

Lulu was super cute and sleepy with her duck.

Why don’t people get that Severance is a show about slavery?? The think pieces about work place politics are cringey. The amount of people who take the Lumon view of the innies is so gross.

I was going to work on my button class I had missed but I had a migraine hangover and didn’t feel up to it. I hate being behind!

Day 1838: Salmon

For lunch I had a spinach quiche (not a powerhouse one!) from the meal prep place and the leftover roasted potatoes.

Matt went into work and got food there. He didn’t feel great coming home so for dinner he had some sick food and I had the salmon and ricotta noodles from the meal prep place.

Then the main event which was the Severance finale! Everything I hoped for and more. I was right in my predictions but I couldn’t predict a marching band.

Day 1837: Pork

Long day! I went to Aldi before going to the other house to take my button class.

I had some 7-up in the fridge that had been opened back in January but was mostly full. I figured it must be flat so I went to pour it out and it exploded all over the kitchen. I have never seen so many bubbles or had so many sticky surfaces before. Luckily I had made good time and could clean it up before class.

We both had some leftover turkey in instant noodles for lunch at our respective locations.

I saw the first daffodil of the season!

Matt took Lulu to the vet for her hacking and now she is on two medicines. Oy. At least they are liquid.

I did my button class and somehow we didn’t finish any buttons. I’m behind since I missed a class when they changed the time. I’m a little exhausted by it. The whole class has been so disorganized and slapdash. I feel like I’m learning but it’s always some last minute thing I need or we don’t get to something and we have to figure it out on our own. The class needed to be a full year then.

Matt got some meals from the meal prep place for the next few dinners. Tonight we had pork with mashed potatoes and green beans and a $1 slice of cake. It really is cheaper than takeout and depending on what we get, pretty close to the price of making it ourselves.

I don’t really want to talk about the Covid-aversary but I do find it interesting now the press is talking about long Covid, how it’s still around and Covid cautious people etc now that Biden has left office. Even before this week, suddenly there was a return to an interest in the mechanics and reality. I guess when Biden pretended it was over he got a pass because he is the one that is supposedly on the side of science. Not that Trump is better, of course.

Day 1836: Kimchi Fried Rice

I had popcorn and tomato soup for lunch. Matt was at work and got poke! Lucky him.

For dinner we used up some things we had and made kimchi fried rice with spam.

I was supposed to be away at a workshop this week (it was canceled) and next week is a long weekend/staycation so we didn’t plan much for this week.

It’s good to use up some food! I’ve had to throw out some eggs lately which feels bad since the prices have gone up and places have shortages but we have been going back and forth between houses and not always cooking or baking much. Or cooking there and not using up what we have here. It’s a lot of keep straight especially if it something we don’t always have like kimchi and smoked salmon.

Day 1834: Leftovers

We had scrambled eggs and toast for lunch.

I had my guild meeting and we had a speaker but she was odd. She talked about her health and how many times she died(!) and all sorts of bizarre things. Then another member came up to me and was quizzing me about last year’s dues and auction. The auction I left because my dad’s doctor called asking about resuscitating him. I thought I had given her a twenty for a dues but she said I didn’t and kept claiming I won auction items. I wasn’t even there. It was weird and disturbing. She kept arguing with me. I did wonder if I hadn’t paid for the dues since I didn’t get a receipt but I was planning on just donating an extra $20 this year to be sure. Why she waited until March to quiz me about this is strange too.

Then there is more weirdness in my button class where it seems like they are expecting us to do even more buttons without instructions.

And the new March blanket knit a long pattern is ugly. I spent so much money on the yarn but the last month’s pattern was six identical squares which was also kind of ugly and weird for a 20 square blanket.

I’m tired of spending money on things that are supposed to be fun and then having them be stressful.

Then while I was gone Matt went to make the salmon for tomorrow and it was spoiled even though it was sell by the 20th. Oy.

For dinner we just had the leftover pasta. The wrong order wasn’t any better the second day.

It was an unexpectedly stressful day.

Day 1833: Burgers

We got sushi for lunch since we were actually home. The place with the good lunch special is too far to go to outside of the weekend.

Lots of housework today and then Matt had to go to the other house. Next thing we knew it was like 8 pm so we just got burgers and slaw for dinner. We were going to make salmon but I think we will make it tomorrow and have it for lunch Monday.

Day 1832: Spaghetti

I went to Lidl for groceries and didn’t have a ton of luck. I did get an enough for a few dinners though.

Then I got home and realized that the fresh manicotti Matt got at Aldi we were going to have for dinner must have been expired when he bought it—it was hard to read but the expiration date was some time in February!

We got club sandwiches for lunch and then ended up getting fancier Italian take out for dinner but they gave me the wrong food. It wasn’t a great food day! They gave me spaghetti in meat sauce which I really don’t like.
