Day 1848: Ribs

It was unexpectedly nice weather today! Matt went to Lidl and got some groceries and we tried one of their take and bake pizzas for lunch. It wasn’t bad but I think I like Aldi’s better.

Then he smoked some baby back ribs most of the afternoon. We had that, baked potatoes and a salad from Lidl that was “street corn” flavored.

Day 1847: Sushi

Actually nice if cloudy weather today!

We went up to York and walked around the little Main Street. We got a new plant and Matt got some japchae at the Central Market.

We stopped at our favorite popcorn store on the way home so I had some of that and and some soup when we got back.

We were going to get sushi from one of the places downtown last week but Matt didn’t feel great so we got it today. It was all really good! They even had toro.

Day 1844: Crab Cakes part two

Back home from the staycation! Honestly it was kind of a bust. I did hear a lot of birds and used the Merlin app. I’ve always wondered about some of the birds down there. My grandpop knew some but I think some are newer. I haven’t heard a bobwhite yet but we only were there in the summers so maybe it isn’t time yet.

When we got back, I unpacked and Matt ran to the Italian store and got sandwich stuff for lunch for today and Friday.

For dinner we had crabcakes again because we made so many yesterday! We even had one and a half each and we still have some for tomorrow. We had the leftover mashed potatoes and then made yellow squash.

We also tried some Zitner’s Butter Krak eggs that we finally found at Weis. I heard about them last year and couldn’t find them. They were good! I wasn’t sure if it was going to be something people rave about but you had to grow up eating or if they’d be legit good but they were tasty.

Day 1843: Crabcakes

Still on staycation! Today is our anniversary!

For lunch I tried a Greek place that’s closer to here than home and it was solid! The eggplant was really good. Matt stuck to a safer sandwich.

For dinner we made crab cakes (but doubled), chive mashed potatoes and asparagus.

We have so many leftovers! I think we will have crab cakes for dinner the next two nights.

Day 1842: Squid Dupbap

Another dreary day! At least in the morning we saw a Great Blue Heron super close. Mitzi barked at it but the bird was unfazed.

For lunch Matt had some rice and eggs and I got some fried chicken and cold sides from the good deli supermarket nearby.

For dinner I had the squid dupbap that we didn’t even touch yesterday because we had so much food. It reheated pretty well.

The weather and Matt not feeling 100% really threw off our meal plans. We weren’t planning on being here so much and the meal I did plan didn’t work anymore.

Day 1841: Kimbap

Another washout of our plans. The weekend is really turning into a bust.

Matt offered to drive across town to get some Korean take out for something different. Somehow there was a mix up and they had to remake our order so it took hours for him to get back with the food.

Luckily it was good because they gave us an extra kimbap and we ended up eating it for lunch and dinner. At least we only had to figure out one meal? Kimbap does not keep well.

Day 1840: Crab Dip

Our plans for our staycation were dashed so we stayed in. For lunch we had sandwiches.

For dinner we got take out from this seafood place that’s famous for their crab cakes.

We are making crab cakes soon so I got some fried shrimp and oysters and crab dip with pretzel bites. It was all pretty good but they always mess the order up some way—this time there were no condiments which was unfortunate because we are at the other house and I don’t stock things like cocktail sauce there because we rarely use it. And they gave us an extra coleslaw but gave us macaroni and cheese instead of potatoes. It’s hard to tell what’s in the containers in the dark.
