I had soup for lunch and Matt went into work and got food from the cart. It’s too cold to go any further!
We got some pasta and chopped salads from the fancy pasta place for dinner. I got a dish with a creamy spinach sauce and it was good but I think their tomato dishes are better. Salad was A+ as always.
For lunch I had a tangelo and my leftover katsu. I really haven’t been hungry! It’s almost like I’m coming down with something but I don’t have a fever or any other real symptoms.
For dinner we had mushroom ravioli topped with spinach, mushrooms and parm.
How has it been 1801 days since things shut down? And we are no better off.
I had a guild meeting at 10 am. It ended up running long and I picked up some shrimp salad at a new place that’s supposed to be a gourmet out post of a tiny supermarket chain here. The main place is known for its bakery and deli so I expected some of that but everything looked kind of old. There were customers but the baked goods look dried out. There were Super Bowl desserts that weren’t marked down. It was weird. The other stuff was a little strange too like they had flavored Maldon salt but not plain. It’s scary to get in and out of since it’s on a major street with no place to turn around or median turning lane so I don’t think I will make going there a priority.
We tried a bakery that’s nearby. We always forget about it because it has sort of old school bakery hours and isn’t open every day.
The croissant was amazing!
After dinner we tried some cake slices and it was the worse cake we’ve ever had. Both flavors—one was “golden milk” like the spiced turmeric trend and the other was red velvet but they were both super dry with weird thick, greasy icing and the red velvet was burnt! I think pastry is what they are good at. Maybe they feel like they should make cake but don’t know how?
I honestly don’t know cake could be that bad. I’m glad we tried them out and didn’t wait for a holiday or special occasion and end up with cake like that.
For lunch we had the leftover parm and then for dinner we had cod (a new way with some Ritz crumbs), mushroom pilaf and cole slaw.
I had my class today so more soup for lunch. There was a chance the weather was going to be bad so I did it at home so I wouldn’t get stuck coming home. Luckily Matt went into work so I could set up in the living room. It’s so awkward here.
For dinner we got chicken parm and chopped salads from the fancier Italian place.
