Day 1748: Enfrijoladas

I was going to go grocery shopping today to get things I can’t get at Lidl/Aldi like buttermilk but then I got an email with a good coupon from Harris Teeter for delivery so I did that instead.

At lunch Matt went to the Italian store and got sandwiches, stuff for sandwiches tomorrow and things we needed for Christmas.

For dinner we got take out, I got enfrijoladas, he got enchiladas, split an order of sopes and got flan. So full! Tomorrow might be a little funky so didn’t want to go to bed hungry.

Day 1746: Salmon

Matt picked up the traditional Rheb’s candy for our Christmas. It was too early when I picked up for my brother. Pre-ordering is the best, you can go right to the front of the very long line.

Since he was down in that part of town he picked up Hawaiian food for lunch. The mac salad is okay but the gravy and rice is solid and the katsu really good.

I went to Lidl in the morning to get food for Christmas and now.

We made Coho salmon, salad and toast from the leftover Costco bread. The new kind of bread they are selling makes great toast!

We watched The Chelsea Detective Christmas special on Acorn but it wasn’t very Christmasy except that they did record a new Christmas song for it. It was on iTunes when I Shazam’ed it. I love when shows makes songs just for the show. The Closer did once and there was a whole Christmas album by the cast of Big Love, although I don’t think they actually sang any of the songs on the show—-too tongue in cheek.

I see bird flu concerns ramping up. If only Biden cared about public health!

Day 1744: Tacos

Another dreary day! It’s hard to get motivated.

For lunch we had the leftover sable and whitefish salad on the newish Costco bread. Clementines.

For dinner we had Costco tacos. Matt had a make up piano lesson.

We need to figure out what we are doing for Christmas/Christmas Eve. It’s awkward when it’s in the middle of the week. Matt has to work on either side of it. Matt was thinking stuffed shells but I’m not sure when we’d be able to get the sausage and make it. The Italian store isn’t open Sundays or Mondays but maybe they will have holiday hours?

Day 1742: Bagels

The plan was to go to the conservatory but it was a rough night and like 28° so we pivoted and decided to try to find the perfect bagel/smoked fish combo.

We’ve ordered from places online before but it’s so expensive and Russ & Daughters keeps changing the combos they sell to include things we don’t like. It’s too expensive to pay for something we already know we don’t like.

We got bagels from a place near the sushi place we like so we got sushi for lunch.

Then Matt went to this deli about 40 minutes away that sold sable, lox and whitefish salad by the pound.

The sable was tasty but sliced really thickly so we had to debone and slice it ourselves which was unexpected. The whitefish salad was solid and the lox was okay. The everything egg bagels were good but the marble oddly almost tasted like unsweetened root beer? It wasn’t horrible but a little odd.

At least they were okay and close by so even if we decide to try another place for fish we have bagels covered.

Day 1741: Salmon

I made it to Target and got a few things. I’m not sure what we are doing this weekend and didn’t feel amazing so didn’t want to go anywhere else.

For lunch we got the lunch special at the place we get Chinese food. They were surprised to see my husband during the day. Ha!

I took a long nap and felt better. Headaches are the worst. I didn’t have one but I haven’t been sleeping well at all.

For dinner we had chimichurri salmon with rice from the meal prep place and I made an “avocado toast” salad kit from Target that had a squeezy tube of avocado in it. Neither was bad. The salmon portion was little skimpy.

Matt had to work in the middle of the night so might shift our plans for tomorrow.
