Day 1678: Burgers

Today we went to the Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, WV. We’ve been a few times before but not in about 8 years, I think! It is about 2 hrs away so it’s not a festival we go to if there is any chance of bad weather. We went one time when it was a little iffy and on the chilly side and then it rained and it was pretty miserable riding home in wet clothes. Today was mid-70s and gorgeous!

It’s a cute town and the festival is all outdoors. They make apple butter in the town square and sell it. We like one that is made off of the square in a parking lot the best so we got some of that to take home.

We also bought some hickory syrup (original and a tiny sassafras one), pepperoni rolls, cookies and a honey place was selling bricks of beeswax so I got some for button making.

There is not a ton of regular food there but I had a bite of a pretzel Matt had and he had a pepperoni roll. I really don’t like walking and eating or drinking. Luckily I don’t get too hungry walking around.

It’s a tiny town and most of the businesses are closed for the festival or switch to a limited menu of drinks/snacks which doesn’t help food-wise.

We went it into the arts center gallery and bought a cute chicken Lino print for the river house.

No apples this time, the orchard didn’t have anything too fun.

We did so much walking; you really have to park far from the center and the festival is pretty spread out along the main drag.

We drove home and then tried to get food from the catfish place again but it was closed so we got burgers and slaw instead.

Then we had oatmeal cookies from the stand at the festival. I think the place is really a wedding cake bakery and I’d love to try their cakes sometime!
