For lunch we made waffles then went to a macrame class across town that I got tickets for six weeks ago.
We got there early, waited and then it turned out the woman teaching the class only had set up for six people and there were 10 with tickets. She added two more spots but that was not enough.
She said there were some no shows in her last class and I think she assumed the same would happen again and didn’t come prepared at all.
She said she didn’t want to do a demo for us that we could all see but would do knots on students work instead which made zero sense. I think she just didn’t have enough supplies to do the demo because she was super unprepared and unprofessional.
She didn’t know which piece we were going to make, kept claiming that the place gave out more tickets than they said they would but kept changing the number of tickets she claimed they gave out and refused to look at the class list to make sure everyone who was there was on it. She also said that since the library closed at 5, we had to leave at 4:30?
She was clearly lying about why she was unprepared and scrambling. It didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all and was surprised people showed up.
This is the same woman who I was going to take a multi week class from a few months ago at Monkton Manor that got canceled and then rescheduled weeks later. I assumed it was because the intial time was a little awkward but now I think she is just a flake.
I don’t know how (as she introduced herself to us) she won “Baltimore’s best fiber artist” in 2023 as she isn’t from Baltimore but Ellicott City and can’t get it together to teach 10 adults some knots on a Saturday afternoon.
Who does not come prepared with enough supplies (and extra even!) to teach a class and then tells people with tickets there is no room? The supplies are literally rope and a pole. How hard is it to confirm the numbers with the venue before leaving your house to make sure you have everything?
Tarah Boyd, apparently.
At least we had lobster rolls and great corn for dinner?! And some Milk Bar s’mores truffles.
