Day 1543: Chicken

Another exhausting elder care heavy day but I did make it to the grocery store and we tried out the new grill. It’s so big! We need to tweak some timing but we actually made dinner! Chicken, yellow squash and baby potatoes.

For lunch we had the leftover pupusa and they reheated surprisingly well.

Day 1542: More Cake

Somehow the doctors office told us the wrong date so we took my dad to his appointment which they claimed was tomorrow. So that was a waste of half the day.

We just had leftovers for lunch and dinner (Korean and Chinese) and leftover birthday cake.

At least it was nice weather?

Covid seems up again, I’m hearing about a ton of cases. Good tbing the doctor offices don’t require masks 😬

Day 1541: Birthday Cake

We went to a local historic Main Street and wandered around for a bit then got kimbap and a bear cake for Matt’s birthday today!

Then for dinner we got a couple sushi rolls. Not as exciting as we planned but it was good to do something.

We have always been intrigued by the cake and it was really good! Chocolate sponge and filling.

Day 1539: Cupcakes

Dreary day but my dad managed by himself so we got the lawn mowed. This was supposed to be our vacation week but since we are here, I went and got us cupcakes and shrimp salad for lunch.

Fun flavors: bomb pop, banana pudding, fluffernutter and blueberry pancake.

Then we got take out for dinner and caught up on some shows. I also got a new desktop computer but I haven’t gotten the nerve to set it up yet.

Tomorrow we are to get some medication for my dad (they only gave us some to get through the weekend of one pill because they were out) and to reschedule his check up but I’m hoping to do something else too?

Day 1536: Chicken

Today started off slow and we made turkey sandwiches for lunch. I made three rugs on my loom. Then suddenly the hospital said my dad was fine to come home in a few hours and didn’t need a walker or anything.

We scrambled and I picked him up and Matt met us at his house with some groceries.

I ended up getting halal chicken and rice from Naz’s at like 9 pm on my way home.

I am so tired! It isn’t clear if he got all of his evening medications and as I told the doctor the pharmacy would be closed before he was released. I had made a CVS account for him so I could check but it seems like they aren’t all filled. They called in the scripts really late. Hopefully that isn’t a horrible ordeal. One of us will have to try to get there when they open because they sent him home with nothing and these are all new.

And they set him up for all these follow up appointments that we had already told them weren’t times that worked so I have to deal with that. I asked the doctor to have them call us but of course they didn’t.

Day 1535: Lasagna

Made sandwiches for lunch then got the lasagna special for dinner.

I got a call from a new doctor on a lesser cardiac floor and he didn’t seem to know anything about my dad or what was going on beyond some basics. There may be some procedure they can do but they are waiting to hear back from electrocardiology.

They said they could release him (today!) to wait to hear back and seemed surprised when I told him we don’t live with him and have to work? He couldn’t give me a straight answer if he would need 24/7 supervision and if so, why. He said he’d talk to the rehab/PT people again but I just had this convo with the ICU doctor yesterday and the social worker at the hospital. Doesn’t anyone update a chart or talk to each other?

I’m so tired of all of this. I don’t feel like I can plan or do anything because I’m constantly waiting for news and am exhausted. Time keeps ticking away and soon the dog is going to be an issue again. My migraines have be awful and making it difficult to leave the house.

Day 1534: Leftovers

Started the day at the hospital. It seems like they want him back in rehab for at least a few days and are waiting for a bed. He seemed peppy. I can’t wait to find out a timeline. My dream would be him in rehab until the end of next week so we can relax with him safe while we are off work and then set him up without having to take time off. I don’t want to jinx it though!

We got sandwiches and stuff to make more sandwiches at the Italian store.

For dinner we had our leftover Indian food from Sunday. I am so full.

Researched button making for my guild presentation in the fall.
