Day 1269: Gnocchi

Had to get a shot this morning and then went to Aldi and got some easy things to make.

For lunch we had the leftover food from last night.

I spent most of the afternoon reading in the hammock and getting lightly sunburnt.

For dinner I made some veal cutlets and sautéed some mushrooms, an aging fresh tomato and gnocchi as a side. It was surprisingly good if ugly!

I had planned on doing something German with the veal but Italian was easier.

Day 1268: Macapuno Ensaymada

I felt a little rundown today! I haven’t been sleeping well and I think it is catching up to me. I did get some work done, knitting and some organizing/cleaning but I’m ready for bed.

For lunch I had yesterday’s cod leftovers and added some feta. Matt was at work so got some Peruvian food.

I really need to get to the store! Everything we have requires more work than I had energy to make and Matt had to work all night so we got Filipino takeout. So good and they had a bakery delivery so we got macapuno and ube ensaymada and split them. Yum. And we have leftovers and a tub of buko pandan for another day.

Finished the new Justified. I hope it comes back!

Day 1267: Cod

Today was a lazy day. Dreary! Dottie hurt her paw but seems okay. Lulu’s stomach is upset. Mitzi had ennui. None of them wanted to even go in the yard.

I did find this in the yard though:

Another wild squash!

I was supposed to get a call from Apple today about how my battery on my new phone is awful and they did call but just yelled they couldn’t hear me and hung up?? Didn’t call back.

For lunch I had the rest of the Chinese food leftovers. I’m glad they are done! They had given us one wrong dish and then Matt didn’t feel well so I’ve had it like every day.

For dinner I made this cod, orzo and yellow squash dish that turned out pretty good! A little yellow-beige but tasty and easy.

Day 1266: Doughnut

I got no sleep last night but did read almost two full books!

After a stressful convo with my dad about how I am not going to responsible for holiday meals after the birthday fiasco and a lot of other holiday dramas but will instead come over for a visit in the morning and then leave I got myself a doughnut and Matt a crumb custard danish.

Matt didn’t feel 100% so he had some soup for lunch and I continued working my way though the leftover Chinese food.

For dinner he had some scrambled eggs and rice and I made myself popcorn.

Day 1265: Arayes

Low key day today! Out and about a little then had leftover pineapple fried rice for lunch.

Read.

Matt made arayes with beef on the grill and smoked some eggplant. He made some green beans for dinner and then baba ganoush for another day. There should be enough green beans for another meal and we froze a pound of the seasoned meat.

The green beans have that ugly look that Bon Appetite photos have now but they were tasty!

We watched Coup de foudre a Jaipur which was an odd French-Bollywood mash up.

Day 1264: Blood Orange Snowball!

Matt had lunch with some old coworkers today and I went to Fort McHenry for Pokémon Go Fest. It was a beautiful day but I was the only player I saw! Very odd since it’s a huge park with a lot of stops and bathrooms and right on the water. I would have thought it would be packed. I got some reading done which was nice.

I am never in that part of the city so I stopped at got a snowball at a place I’ve read about and never been. Somehow it is late August and I hadn’t had a snowball yet. What kind of Baltimorean am I?

Matt lost track of time and ended up picking up food from the Szechuan place for dinner instead of the meal we had planned to cook. NBD and now we have a ton of leftovers. I didn’t really eat lunch—a lot of places were closed or lunch or only had brunch so I just had some tortilla chips and salsa when I came home so I was ready for dinner!

Day 1263: Shrimp Salad

I made shrimp salad for our lunch and had it over a sliced tomato.

For dinner we had hots and tots and broccoli like toddlers.

Watched some French mystery and I got a migraine. Not the most thrilling Friday! Hoping to get out tomorrow, it’s supposed to be nice weather.

One weird thing, we opened the freezer and a scallop popped out. I can’t imagine I bought an open bag or they’d be all over the belt at the store or my car or the bag but I can’t figure out how the bag would be slit in the freezer.

Day 1262: More Chicken

Today was a little weird. I wanted to go shopping early but didn’t feel great and it was raining so I didn’t.

I had some canned soup for lunch and then ended up dashing out to Lidl for some odds and ends. I might be able to put off shopping again until next week. I don’t always love their meat but I did get some ground beef and frozen scallops.

I was going to make pasta salad for dinner but I still felt bad and lost track of time working on a project for the guild.

Instead we got chicken, cornbread and fries. Maybe I’ll make the salad for lunch tomorrow? I got like 4 hrs of sleep and my neck and arm hurts. Matt thinks it might be from my vaccine on Monday but I think I just slept funny?

My volunteer squash plant is taking over.

Day 1261: Red Bag Chicken

For lunch I had the leftovers from last night’s dinner with an egg added.

I worked on trying to organize something for the guild and finished and scheduled drafts on Coconut & Lime all day.

For dinner we had Aldi red bag chicken sandwiches on the brioche rolls, popcorn and corn on the cob. Tomorrow I was supposed to see my dad for lunch for my birthday but that’s not happening so I will have time to grocery shop tomorrow. I haven’t shopped in almost two weeks? We did cook a fair amount on our “staycation” last week but we didn’t grocery shop and I didn’t buy much before that. I could probably cobble together some meals for a couple days but after that it would be pretty grim.
