Today turned into even more of an ordeal than I expected. I had a dental appointment to get imaging and prepped for my crown at 10:30. Dottie did not let us sleep late so I was up early, had some Coke Zero but couldn’t eat. I got there, they had a horrible time trying to do the imagining becuase of the size of my mouth and the location of my tooth (it was my right lower wisdom tooth). At one point he thought he’d have to do a wax cast and send it out but finally was able to get the last shot. It was a pretty gross experience (burning tooth smell!) and took forever.
Then I was going to leave and I thought I tripped over a rug but it was really the bottom of my shoe falling off! It kept falling off in pieces as I walked. I mentioned it to the staff on my way out and she suggested driving over to the open-air mall about 10 minutes away where there was a shoe store. Luckily I was able to park right in front because by this point, I was in a sock. I went in, told them I had a shoe emergency and the staff was so nice and pulled shoes for me and I found a clearance closed toe sandal that was only $24 and looked like something I’d wear anyway. Got that, dropped some books off at a Little Free Library and then headed to the actual library.

It isn’t my usual library system so I thought I’d sit and read or knit but it was noisy! I noticed there was a sign saying they did passport photos and I needed mine done so I ended up doing that while I waited. My passport is expired and while I can’t see us doing any travel thanks to Covid, I do feel like its nice to have a way out of the country if you need it. Maybe we’ll decide to do a road trip to Canada? Who knows.
Anyway, they made my crown while I killed time. They had some trouble fitting it in and he kept asking if it felt “high” but my mouth was still really numb. Finally, I left around 3 pm and picked up some fries and a filet o fish at the McDonald’s around the corner. I haven’t had that in a long, long time but it sounded really soft and appealing. I knew we didn’t have much I could immediately eat then I got home so it was the easiest solution. I really wasn’t as hungry as I would have expected! I guess because the prep was so gross and my mouth felt weird. I did feel hungry after I ate some fries though. My mouth really hurt a lot.
Luckily we had planned trout and mashed potatoes (Matt added broccoli and spinach to the potatoes) for dinner which was easy to eat.
My tooth does feel weird though. Almost like it’s wearing a tap shoe. I realize I don’t close my teeth when my mouth is closed (does anyone?) so they really aren’t closed a lot if that makes sense. I can feel that tooth more than the others. Maybe it’s still just swollen.
I still need to go back to get my teeth cleaned in March, they had just removed the tartar and checked out my wisdom tooth at what was supposed to be my cleaning. I hadn’t been in the dentist since before the pandemic started so I was way overdue! They offered to bump the appointment up to today but really who wants to spend two days back to back at the dentist?
I had some of the lemon meringue ice cream we made a couple weeks ago and we watched The Cleaner on Britbox (an oddly sweet show) and worked on our knitting. I’m done up to the decreasing part of my hat so I started what the author of the pattern suggested as a first project.
