For lunch I had some leftover ham and a little bit of mashed potatoes and stuffing.
Then for dinner we made the khoresht kadoo we prepped yesterday. Matt made the lamb part yesterday and I pan fried the zucchini today so it was easy easy for dinner.
I did some weaving and we watched a little Great British Menu but Matt had to work in the evening after dinner.
For dinner we ended up having cheese and bread and snack type foods. We did prep half of a Persian lamb stew for tomorrow so that will be easy. We ran out of time to make it today! Matt had work and we just somehow were busy.
Finished season 5 (the first season available in the US) of Great British Menu (Prime). They were so excited to cook for Prince Charles! Even the snotty ones. It was cute.
Matt had for work for a few hours this morning. We were all up too early for the weekend! The dogs wouldn’t settle and I had ordered delivery from Whole Foods and Target (the first time since the summer!) so I was getting texts from the shoppers. I feel bad about not shopping in person but we really needed some extras and I’ve been reading that they are advising people not to shop in person to reduce the numbers in the store. The shopper was double masking when she dropped off. I tip massively!
Matt made tuna salad sandwiches for lunch and cut up extra celery and onion for dinner. It’s been a while since we had tuna!
I had a baking with Japanese rice flour demo on zoom this evening and Matt made spatchcocked chicken, stuffing in a baking dish using the juices (normally we do balls in with the bird but it’s a tight fit with spatchcocking), mashed potatoes and pickled beets with feta and Spanish black radishes.
I didn’t realize they predicted snow! Now I really feel bad about placing my orders. I did need some meds from Target and we were very low on produce but I could have eked out a couple more days. I swear yesterday they were calling for just scattered showers overnight.
We did get some good things from Whole Foods, a whole chicken, lots of vegetables and cubed lamb stew meat. She was a really great shopper, everything was beautiful and cold which has been an issue before.
We also got a small cake from Milk Bar delivered I had a good coupon and it was nice to get a treat. They do the best job packing it up.
I put up some split pea soup in the slow cooker in the morning. I used Herbes de Provence for seasoning and ham.
For lunch I had some noodles and a fried egg.
Matt had to work at night and we were both exhausted so we took a nap in the afternoon.
I don’t love my bigger loom so I’m looking for a new one. I worked on my latest project and was getting splinters. Started watching Kingdom again since we didn’t finish it.
For lunch I made us a packet of mushroom sauce gnocchi from Aldi with some watercress and pesto stirred in with the leftover meatballs. Not too shabby!
For dinner we had Aldi red bag chicken sandwiches on brioche rolls with pickles. I think this was the last of the chicken patties. They were surprisingly good! We also roasted zucchini and had the last of the potato salad.
Finished my weaving and watched more Great British Menu. I watched some Firefly Lane during the day and it’s not great but then neither was the book. They’ve changed things around a bit. In the book they were both pretty insufferable.
Matt prepped the veggies for soup tomorrow so I can get that going right when I wake up.
For lunch I heated up the last of the greens and added the leftover rice from our egg based cuisine meals. Not my favorite but at least we finished up some leftovers? The rice really sucked up the liquids and the flavor was lacking as a result.
For dinner we had the rest of the hot dogs and rolls and the potato salad and coleslaw I made yesterday. Easy peasy. I had ordered a 10 lb bag of potatoes so I think I will end up making something with potatoes again tomorrow since they are already sprouting. I’m hesitant to go back into shopping in person since we have so much in the freezer and “pantry” (aka totes under the table) with these new variants around and hopefully more people getting vaccinated. I miss being able to pick out produce and meat. We haven’t been getting meat delivered except whole chicken and processed stuff like hot dogs or ham so I feel like I’m missing out on some Aldi sales! This week is plants and Valentine’s Day which is my favorite holiday.
I worked on more weaving. Ive been trying to ride our exercise bike but somehow it was dinner time before I realized it. I’ve been having trouble sleeping at night so have been sleeping late. It’s throwing off my schedule!
Watched Zooey. The Simon storyline is interesting, I hope Zooey is supportive. More Great British Menu. The Wales chefs were obnoxious 10 years ago, ha!
For lunch I just had a can of soup but then I realized we did have leftovers. Tomorrow!
For dinner we made burgers with some beef we defrosted with caramelized onions and gruyere. I also made potato salad and coleslaw. I know it’s Groundhog’s Day but I felt like something summery. I made enough we have have more of both tomorrow and Matt made meatballs out of the leftover meat for another day’s lunch. I don’t think burgers reheat that well so we’ve started making just two for us and then making meatballs with the leftover meat either in the same seasoning or different. Meatballs just heat up better and don’t need a bun if we don’t want one. We’ve both been tired this week so easy meals is the name of the game.
We watched our usual Britbox Tuesday shows, they had both ended in cliff hangers so that got wrapped up. I warped my new loom (the original one I ordered that took over a month and a half to arrive) and I don’t love it. It seems like a prototype or something, the wood is rough and the accessories are a little flimsy. It wasn’t cheap so I’m disappointed and wondering if I should order a different one from another seller. It’s rather rickety.
Like six books came in for me at the library for the Kindle so I need to get reading. I read 24? books in January but I’ve been slacking in February so far.
Another snow day! I didn’t realize we’d get more snow today, I thought it was on it’s way up North! Mitzi is a real snow puppy and wore herself out playing.
My in-laws live in NYC and they are supposed to get about 2 feet or more!
For lunch I added some extra tomatoes to the egg kofta and made fresh rice. It was good but I don’t think we are going to make that again, it was really heavy between the lamb and the full fat yogurt.
For dinner Matt made buttermilk biscuits and we heated up the leftover greens. A double leftover day! We still have enough to have it as a side dish again.
We watched All Creatures Great and Small and Great British Menu. Talk about low stakes television. I had warped my loom but I didn’t feel great today.
